CLIENT:General Motors (Flint, MI)

Our GM brochure exudes emotion, and its intent was to inspire its audience, and to make them feel good about buying what was to be the first electric vehicle produced by General Motors.  The car was later known as the EV1, but when we developed the first 20 page brochure for it, it was called the “Impact”.   No photos of the car could be displayed as it was a trade secret at the time, which is why there the brochure contains no pictures of the car.  Excerpts of the American poet Robert Frost’s poetry were used to capture the essence of each topic presented on each page of the brochure.   The digital files were made from the original brochure as pdfs were not widely used at the time of production.

This is also the vehicle for which the 2006 documentary movie entitled, Who Killed the Electric Car? was made. This movie explores the creation, limited commercialization, and eventual destruction of this particular vehicle.  For whatever reason, the movie did not cover the brochure.
